State of the Energy Market – 30th June 2022

Daily Updates

Energy wholesale prices moved upwards on Thursday (30th June) before settling during the lunch period. However, towards the close of day, there was a further upward movement across both gas and power, so we expect to see closing prices to show a further increase on the previous day’s closing position.

German utility company Uniper is rumored to be in talks with the German government to discuss a possible bailout following the recent drop in Russian gas volumes reaching Germany.

July 22 wholesale gas prices decreased by 4% to close at £174.12 pence per therm.

Wholesale power prices also increased by 4% to close at £211.33 per MWh.
